Project Overview
As the host and lead organizer for the TAP-SD Book Club from September 2024 to July 2025, I was responsible for creating the bi-monthly literary series. The goal was to increase engagement among young professionals in San Diego by pairing high-quality contemporary literature, specifically focused on Asian American and Taiwanese narratives, with a visually compelling brand identity. My role spanned from selecting titles and designing all promotional assets in Canva to managing the physical logistics of the live events.
To create a cohesive feel for the book club, I developed a consistent design language for our promotional flyers. Each selection (such as Stay True, Green Island, and Interior Chinatown) was given a distinct color palette and layout that reflected the book’s unique tone while maintaining a recognizable TAP-SD brand.
Results and Takeaway
The cohesive Canva-led design strategy led to a higher click-through rate on social media, making the book club one of TAP-SD’s most visually recognizable sub-groups.
