Raffle Ticket Stamp Card
Graphic Design
Audience: 2,000+ event attendees for Annual Taiwan Festival in San Diego, California
Responsibilities: I spearheaded the visual identity and structural framework for the festival’s inaugural raffle card, creating a culturally themed stamp card that doubled as an interactive event guide. Engineered a strategic participation system with tiered rewards to optimize attendee circulation and maximize engagement across all vendor booths.
Problem Solved: Historically, the festival suffered from significant operational bottlenecks and imbalanced attendee distribution. A low barrier-to-entry for raffle participation allowed attendees to secure tickets with minimal effort, leading to severe congestion and long wait times at the central raffle booth. This operational friction, combined with a lack of structured incentives, resulted in "clustering" at high-traffic food stalls while the majority of cultural and small-business vendors remained underutilized. This solution minimized the bottlenecks and encouraged attendee circulation.

Project Overview
The primary goal of this initiative was to design a comprehensive engagement framework for the 2nd annual TAP-SD Taiwan Festival. The project aimed to transform the raffle from a simple prize drawing into a strategic tool for geospatial distribution, ensuring that attendees explored the full diversity of the 24 participating vendors while streamlining high-traffic operational bottlenecks.
Process
The process began with a series of deep-dive consultations with the TAP-SD the rest of the TAP-SD leadership team. Through a series of questions, I developed core parameters of the project, including identifying the 24-vendors and aligning the visuals with the event’s established brand colors. This phase was critical for ensuring the stamping system met the festival's specific logistical requirements.
Once the goals were defined, I developed initial low-fidelity mockups to visualize the placement of the stamp grid, instructions, and the integrated QR code. These prototypes were presented to the team to gather feedback on the "flow" and to ensure the 6/12/24-tier system was intuitive for attendees.
After securing team approval on the structural framework, I moved into high-fidelity execution using Canva. I focused on creating a clean vector linework aesthetic images of vendor names for the stamp stations. I carefully balanced the typography to ensure the raffle rules were legible while maintaining a celebratory, festival-appropriate visual style that adhered to TAP-SD’s brand identity.
The final phase involved preparing the assets for physical production. I conducted a thorough pre-press review, verifying color accuracy, bleed margins, and serial number placement to ensure a high-quality finish. The final designs were printed on digital durable cardstock used by thousands of festival attendees.
Results and Takeaway
The implementation of the new raffle system was met with universal praise from both TAP-SD leadership and festival attendees. I personally oversaw the operations at the central raffle booth, where I served as the primary point of contact for onboarding attendees and training volunteers on the new system.
The most significant validation came from returning guests, who noted that the Raffles flow was far more intuitive and streamlined than in previous years. This was great feedback for me because I had also been a part of the planning committee for the previous year’s inaugural Taiwan Festival. By raising the participation threshold, we successfully eliminated the chronic congestion that had plagued the booth in the past. Leadership highlighted the system's effectiveness in maintaining a steady, organized pace of ticket redemption throughout the day, ensuring a premium experience for every participant.
Seeing the excitement of attendees as they aimed for the "24-stamp bonus" confirmed that a well-structured reward system can successfully maximize vendor and attendee engagement.
This project reinforced that impactful design is as much an operational tool as it is a visual one. By leveraging a strategic visual system to resolve a critical 'bottleneck' issue, I demonstrated how thoughtful design can directly optimize the logistical health and attendee flow of a large-scale event.
